Diversity and Inclusion Committee Making Strides for Good

Juneteenth mural outside 18 Newton Street

FCR’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee (DEIC), established in 2020 in the wake of the murders of George Floyd and Brianna Taylor, began with the goal of advancing policies and practices that promote diversity and inclusion within the agency. The committee, which is open to all FCR employees, ensures that individuals with a wide range of perspectives, experiences, skills, and decision-making abilities have a seat around the table and that all voices are heard. It is only through a diverse workforce that we can effectively serve our clients who come from every racial, ethnic, gender identity, socio-economic backgrounds, and beliefs.

To date, the committee have successfully revised FCR’s Mission and Value statements to reflect a diversity focus; enhanced efforts in diversity in hiring; provided two DEI workshops to staff and volunteers lead by Bridgewater/Raynham Public Schools Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator, Kayla Berrios; commissioned a mural outside 18 Newton Street in celebration of Juneteenth; and offered a “Day of Service” in 2021 where we offered cookies and refreshments to the staff at Brockton Neighborhood Health Center and cleaned Holy Cross Church in Easton. For 2023, we are planning more events including forums and workshops.
