FCR’s Adopt-A-Family Program Seeks to Make Holiday Dreams Come True

For the past several years Family and Community Resources has enlisted the help of generous community members to donate gifts and gift cards for survivor families who are struggling to provide for their children during the holiday season.  FCR staff work with each family to complete their “Family Wish List” and then match that family with an “Adoptive Family” (individual, family and/or company).  Over 50 families are helped each year.

Program Director Cathy Stowe says, “In all the years we have reached out for support of the Adopt-A-Family Program, this year is the most important.  We have had a significant increase in providing phone support, household needs, food, diapers, crayons, activities, clothing, cell phones to allow for face time for services (medical, therapeutic, school) needed by children and adults served by FCR.  We are seeking your help to make this holiday season a little brighter for these wonderful, strong families. Please join us in bringing smiles to the faces of survivors and their children whose lives have been impacted by violence & trauma during this very difficult time who need our community’s comfort and support especially now more than ever.”

To become an “Adoptive Family” please contact Cathy at 508-584-2809, cell 774-381-2183, or email her at Catherine.Stowe@fcr-ma.org.  Cathy has arranged for several ways that gifts can be “delivered”.  All items must be received by December 16th.

In the words of one grateful mother last year, “I was just thinking and worrying about what Christmas would look like since we are struggling financially, especially this year.  So, you don't know how thankful I am for your help.  I was almost in tears that you could help. Sometimes saying thank you just doesn't seem like enough! I know I have said it, but I do truly appreciate it."
