White Ribbon Event

Thursday, March 23,2023, we hosted our Annual White Ribbon Event. This event was held to encourage men and boys to ally with women against domestic violence and all gender-based violence. Thank you to all of our distinguished guests at the event, we had an amazing turn out. We also want to thank our wonderful speakers: Councilor David Teixeira, Mayor Robert Sullivan, District Attorney Timothy Cruz, Sheriff Joe McDonald, and Councilor Moises Rodrigues. We appreciate all elected officials who attended, as well as the Brockton and Stoughton Police Departments. Also, we want to thank our Peer Leaders who attended from the Boys and Girls Club Metro South. They led us in the White Ribbon Pledge. If you weren’t able to join, we have some pictures below taken at the event. Our program for the day can also be viewed via Brockton Community Access! On behalf of FCR, we thank you all for your support!

"When I come to this event... it should not end when we walk out that door.  Because if it does, we are not doing our jobs as human beings.  Not as elected officials - as HUMAN BEINGS."-Mayor Robert Sullivan

“I think as a man, and as a sheriff, and as a dad, the most important thing I can do is to set an example, to be that kind and gentle face… When you see something, say something. When you see something taking place, never ever let it go by.” -Sheriff Joseph McDonald

"Domestic Violence permeates our homes, our schools, our communities, and the one thing we forget about frequently is domestic violence in the workplace.  I'm happy to say that FCR along with the Greater Brockton Minority Business Association and the Montello Business Association are going to move forward and we are going to put on a conference for all the employers in this community to teach them about what they can do to prevent domestic violence." -Patricia Kelleher, CEO, FCR

"These issues are hard to talk about, especially within the immigrant community.  But our issue, nevertheless, is that we must talk about it." -City Councilor, Moises Rodrigues
